The entire dade design concrete washbasin collection has no overflows. This means that the water cannot accumulate in the basin.
3 reasons why an overflow can be omitted from modern washbasins
1. design advantages
Dispensing with an overflow hole has convincing design advantages. The washbasins can be flatter and more elegant.
2. functional reasons
The second important reason why an overflow can be omitted in modern washbasins is of a functional nature. In the past, the washbasin was used universally for personal hygiene, hair washing and laundry. Compared to today, washbasins were deeper and less chic. Modern bathrooms with showers and bathtubs have changed the usage behaviour of washbasins. Today, washbasins are usually only used for washing the face and hands. Water usually no longer needs to be stored for this purpose.
3. hygienic advantages
A third major reason is that overflow holes are not particularly hygienic. The cavity behind the overflow hole is practically impossible to clean. An Eldorado for harmful bacteria and often a reason for bad odours in the bathroom.
To summarise, it can be said that the overflow hole can be omitted in modern bathrooms. However, we recommend installing a pipe vent.
Assembly & scope of delivery
A drain is supplied with every concrete washbasin from Dade Design. You have the choice between 2 stem valves in stainless steel or matt black and a strainer valve.
We recommend installing a pipe aerator with the strainer valve. This supplies the siphon with air and is installed below the washbasin and costs a few francs/euros.
