Dade was already the 4th time in Milano at I salone del mobile. Our spring tour to Vienna, Frankfurt, Zurich & Milano with the new concrete outdoor kitchen is over. Here are some impressions and our top 5 kitchen trends from Milano.

From our visit we are presenting our 5 individual kitchen trends from i Saloni Milano. Regarding the picture quality – just amateur snapshots. After all we are a concrete startup!

Wood fronts

A series of brands is showing pure wooden fronts. Combined with straight lines and a reduced design it brings warmth and character to living rooms.

Separate islands

There are several versions but the main trend seems to be to split the islands. Either like a professional kitchen in a restaurant or with a seam in the middle. Some brands use frames to plug-in electrical equipments.

“Sliders”

Already seen 2 years ago the trend remains to insert wooden cutting boards into the countertops. This boards can be slid all over the main working area. This has the Advantage to preserve the countertop. (i.e. in concrete it creates a design feature) We’re looking forward to receiving your design proposal to mould that in concrete!

Stone, steel & ceramics

Stone is celebrating a revival. (see picture, again with wooden fronts). Besides stone ceramic countertops are gaining more an more space in the showrooms. Steel was, is, and remains a major trend in kitchens.

Corian seems to be gone. Concrete is used widely as design element. Massive islands like this can be moulded in concrete. We use lightweight core materials in these circumstances to aid installation and handling.

Valcucine with aluminum frames

Valcucine is showing of!

On the one hand Valcucine is introducing a aluminum frame system. Doors are lighter and more stable and it is becoming very easy to combine materials. Nowadays this kitchen is more a metalworker then a woodworkers piece.

On the other hand the intellectual property of Valcucine concepts are amazing. As an example the cabinet with a slider which can only be handled with 2 fingers.

In the picture the super trendy copper.

And what are your trends and observations?
